Docs in Orbit / FOUNDING EDITOR
Docs in Orbit is an artist-led, transnational podcast dedicated to independent, creative non-fiction filmmakers. The podcast features in-depth conversations centered around the creative process, with a focus on the diverse forms present in contemporary non-fiction cinema, the challenges filmmakers encounter while working with the moving image, and modern approaches to film curation.
Designed as a nourishing space for artists, Docs in Orbit highlights new works that inspire and facilitates meaningful exchanges and cross-cultural connections.
Since its launch in April 2020, the podcast has produced over 60 episodes and served as a premiere platform for interviewing filmmakers debuting new works at international film festivals. Notable guests include Jessica Beshir (Faya Dayi, Sundance 2021), Payal Kapadia (A Night of Knowing Nothing, Cannes 2021), and Shaunak Sen (All That Breathes, Sundance 2022).
As the founding editor, I served as the creative and strategic lead, responsible for shaping the overall identity and mission of the podcast. This included defining its editorial vision, curating content, and ensuring that all episodes aligned with the platform’s goals and values. I oversaw the conceptual development of each episode, managed collaborations with contributors, and designed the website.
In addition to the creative aspects, I took on operational responsibilities, such as building and maintaining relationships with artists, industry professionals, and cultural institutions. As the driving force behind the podcast, I played a pivotal role in establishing its credibility, cultivating its audience and ensuring the podcast maintained high standards of quality and relevance.
